In the light of Jesus, we learn to shine
Forest School is an integral part of learning at Elmsett, supporting all children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural education enabling them to be independent, self-motivated, courageous and considerate as well setting children up for lifelong learning.
All children enjoy sessions all year round exploring either Hazel Wood, Buckle's Wood, our school allotment or our outdoor classroom.
Forest School is '"An inspirational process that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.” (Forest School Association 2020).

We loved exploring and learning in the woods, the light shining through in Autumn is truly magical.
Brilliant dens, clay creations and wands were made. Climbing and hugging trees was a favourite too!
Digging and hammering is such fun and you never know what you might find!
We enjoyed some reflection time sitting on magic spots outside of our boundary area, it's amazing what see and hear when you take time to sit quietly... you really notice the wonders of the world around you.
Blindfold activites were fun, especially the' find your tree' game.
Fire skills and safety agreements were introduced, we loved the responsibilities of making, feeding and leaving no trace.
With the weather becoming cooler and wetter, marshmallows, s'mores and hot chocolate were a must, popcorn too although the kernels didn't always want to pop!
We enjoyed different activities including; making a hibernaculum, whittling and singing in the rain.
We had fun walking and balancing along the ropes, drinking lots more hot chocolate along with toast and crumpets.
Our final session of 2022 was a wonderful 12 days of Christmas trail in snowy Buckle's Wood.
