Annie Hookway - Chair of Governors

I moved to Suffolk in 1984 returning to East Anglian roots. I have been working in education since 1979 with many happy years in South Suffolk as a primary school teacher and leader. I am passionate about providing new and exiting opportunities for children, drawing upon the diversity that Suffolk offers, whether through technology, the arts  or sport.

I am now retired but keen to continue to support teachers and children at Elmsett Primary School.

My interests are diverse from sailing to painting and even knitting. My husband and I enjoy time with family, our sons and grandchildren  have provided opportunities for travel to see them.  We also have a lively spaniel Tilly

I have no pecuniary interests and am not related to any staff member

Jane Hyde - Safeguarding Governor

My husband Simon and I live on the outskirts of Hintlesham with our children Luke, Alex and Oliver. Our pets are the ponies, Jake and Casper; cats, Buffy and Spike and chickens and duck.

I was a marine cargo broker for Willis group for 8 years before starting work in 2002 for NFU Mutual Insurance agency in Ipswich. I became an Agent of the office in 2008, managing the business with two partners until 2014, when I left to spend more time with the children and horses!

I now work at the NFU Mutual office in Lavenham 2 days a week which is a good compromise of work life balance. I became a parent Governor in March 2014.

I have no pecuniary interests and am not related to any staff member.

Clinton Davies - Vice Chair

Having worked in education at Secondary level for over 15 years I am keen to use my skills and experience to support Elmsett Primary continue to succeed and thrive.

I have experience in a range of areas in various schools and trusts of different backgrounds from curriculum development, student leadership, pastoral leadership roles and safeguarding.

As a parent Governor I wish to support the school, its staff and play my part in actively supporting the community. Family time is precious and I also enjoy creative past times, reading, running and football

I have no pecuniary interests and am not related to anyone at the school.

Andrew Rowe - Co-opted Governor

I became a governor at Elmsett in November 2014.

I have a degree in Education from Manchester University and work brought me to Suffolk 30 years ago. In all that time, I’ve worked for Suffolk County Council, mostly in the Ipswich area.

I want to use all the knowledge and experience of the education sector I have gained in my professional life to help our school continue to improve.

I enjoy walking and cycling in the Suffolk countryside.

I have no pecuniary interests and am not related to any staff member.

Andrea Newman - Foundation Governor
I have lived in Elmsett for 40 years and have been Clerk to the Parish Council since 1981. My two children attended the school in the 80's and I now have three grandsons.  They all play a big part in my life.
I ended my career in education as a lecturer in the business department at Suffolk New College in 2009.
My hobbies include, reading, singing in the church choir and playing golf.
I have no pecuniary interests and am not related to any staff member.

Frances Kearn - Staff Governor

I have lived in Hadleigh for over 25 years and have worked at Elmsett School for 22 of those.

I started the Early Years Unit in 2007, a collaboration between Elmsett School and Elmsett Pre-school then taught Reception, Year 1 and 2 until becoming SENDco in 2013.

I live with my husband, three children and two dogs, Poppy and Spooky and love spending time with them all.

I have no pecuniary interests and am not related to any staff member.

Michelle Lansbury - Parent Governor

My husband Chris and I live on the edge of Elmsett with our children Violet and Elliott and our little dogs Maisie and Teddy. We moved to the village in 2015 just before Violet born but have always lived in the area. I love the time we spend together as a family, this is so important and goes much too quickly.

I have worked as a civil servant since 2004 starting out in the Ministry of Defence in Human Resources, and moving into a customer service position in IT, before moving into a policy role in the Department for Transport in London. These roles have have given me some excellent experience in understanding people and how to work together to achieve shared objectives.

Since my daughter is at the school and my son will be too I am keen to use my skills and experience to support and benefit the school, and it’s teachers, students and parents.

I have no pecuniary interests and am not related to anyone at the school.

Reverend Geoffrey Clement - Foundation Governor

I have been a vicar in Suffolk since 2001, having returned to Suffolk after 5 years in Oxfordshire. I am originally from Streatham S. London. When I left school, I worked in construction working on restoration projects in London, principally at Westminster Abbey but on other government projects too. I then spent 11 years living in Uruguay, S. America where I studied at seminary and was ordained priest in Montevideo.

When I can, I enjoy getting out on my bike – currently a Moto Guzzi V9 (850cc). I’ve had motorbikes since I was 19 and a few years back took my Advanced test with the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

I have no pecuniary interests and my wife Angela currently works at the school as a Teaching Assistant in Robins Class.
