Elmsett Hosts Small Schools XC Run
17 March 2016 (by admin)
On Thursday 17th March, Elmsett played host to the Small Schools XC Run for children in years 3 and 4.
The (almost) 1 mile course takes the children round the large meadow, round Buckle's Wood and back onto the meadow to the finish. Bildeston, Kersey, Whatfield and Hintlesham all brought a team of 6 children for our annual competition.
We couldn't have asked for a better day - the sun was shining, but it was nice and cool so the children did not overheat. The Elmsett Owls dance club very competently (and professionally) led a warm up for the children before the girls and the boys races began.
The children all ran brilliantly and places were very tightly contested. Elmsett were delighted that Lottie Hitchcock (year 3) won the girls race and Luke Hyde (year 3) won the boys race! Harvey and Brett were hot on his heels a couple of places behind.
Given these fantastic runs, Elmsett were the overall winners of the Small Schools XC Run for the second year in a row. Congratulations to the team!
Thank you to all the schools for attending and bringing their marshalls, to the Elmsett parents who came down to marshall and support the team and to the children who did the warm up, set up the course and marshalled in the afternoon.
Next up the Owls in the RHS XC Run on Monday 21st March at the Royal Hospital School.
